Creativity often needs space and time to flourish. Many artists find it challenging to carve out moments in their busy schedules to experiment, learn new skills, or simply catch up on unfinished work. That’s why our Friday art sessions, held from 1 to 3 PM, offer a perfect opportunity to dive into your projects, try fresh ideas, and explore glazing techniques in a supportive environment. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist, these sessions provide the space and resources to fuel your creative journey.

What You Can Expect from Friday Art Sessions
Our Friday sessions are designed to be flexible and welcoming. You can come with a specific project in mind or simply bring your curiosity and willingness to experiment. Here’s what you can look forward to:
Trying New Techniques: Whether you want to explore hand-building, wheel throwing, or glazing, the sessions provide the tools and space to practice.
Making More Pieces: Use the time to create multiple works, from small functional items to larger artistic pieces.
Catching Up on Glazing: If you have bisque-fired pieces waiting for glazing, this is the perfect time to finish them with guidance available if needed.
Collaborative Atmosphere: Being around others who share your passion can inspire new ideas and offer helpful feedback.
The sessions are open to all skill levels, and you can sign up under the classes section on our website. This ensures you have a spot and access to the materials you need.
How to Make the Most of Your Time
To get the most out of these sessions, consider the following tips:
Plan Ahead: Think about what you want to work on before you arrive. Bringing sketches or reference images can help focus your time. But you can always show up and ask for ideas! Just being around other work can be inspiring.
Ask Questions: If you want to learn a new technique or need advice on glazing, don’t hesitate to ask. We are making test tiles for all of the new glazes, and one of our next projects is to make test tiles of fun combos of glazes that work well together!
Set Small Goals: Use the two-hour window to complete manageable tasks, like finishing a new piece or glazing work that has been bisque fired.

Examples of Projects You Can Explore
The variety of projects you can try during these sessions is vast. Here are some ideas to inspire you:
Functional Pottery: Create mugs, bowls, or plates that you can use daily. I have forms and templates, or you can experiment more on the wheel.
Decorative Pieces: Experiment with sculptural forms or textured surfaces. What about making something for the garden? There are so many options. Look online for inspiration, then make something with your special style.
Glaze Experiments: Test different glaze combinations and firing techniques to discover new finishes.
Repair and Refine: Use the time to fix cracks, smooth surfaces, or add final touches to existing pieces.
Each project offers a chance to develop your skills and express your artistic voice.
Why Join These Sessions Instead of Working Alone?
Working alone at home or in a private studio can sometimes feel isolating or limiting. Our Friday sessions offer benefits that solo work cannot match:
Access to Equipment: Use pottery wheels, the slab roller, the extruder, or our glazing areas
Community Support: Connect with fellow artists who can offer encouragement and share tips.
Structured Time: Having a set schedule helps build a routine and keeps you accountable.
Creative Energy: Being in a creative space surrounded by others sparks inspiration and new ideas.
This combination makes the sessions a valuable resource for anyone serious about growing their art practice.

How to Sign Up and What to Bring
Signing up is easy. Visit the classes section on our website and register for the Friday art sessions. Space is limited, so early registration is recommended.
If it's warm out, I will have the garage door open. Park anywhere in the driveway or along the road.
If it's cold, come to the front door so we can keep our space as warm as possible.
I have aprons, tons of tools, clay and glazes! You bring your ideas and stories! Working with clay can be both therapeutic and humbling. Not everything turns out the way we think, but it's sure rewarding learning new things.
